Thor, Violet and the babies- Bruce & Indigo
We purchased Violet (ewe) and Thor (wether) in 2025 with the plan to breed Violet in the coming season for Skye's 4H Breeding project. Thor was obviously not up to to the job, but thankfully we have a great Merino community and via John and Carol Steitz, owners of Steitzholf Merino, we were able to breed Violet with a ram. The result of that breeding was Bruce and Indigo!
The reason are sheep wear coats year round is to protect the quality of the wool. They also only get sheared once a year because we want there fleeces to be long as possible so spinners want to buy it.
Marinos are very well known for there amazing wool you may even have seen there wool made into hats or socks.
